As we all know, without umpires there can be no game. And, speaking from experience, umpiring is a great way to stay involved in sport once you get too (ahem) old to play any more.
From a football perspective, the club is expected to provide club umpires for the u12, u14, u17 and reserves matches each week. This is a call for anyone who would like to help out with football umpiring during the year. No experience necessary, and the club will willingly provide training and support if you feel you need it.
Please let me know if you are interested by responding to this post by Friday 13 March – this includes anyone who has umpired in previous years – that means you Tony Saunders. Also please include your level of experience and preference (if any) for the grade you would like to umpire. Once I have an idea of numbers, I will be able to put a roster together for the upcoming season.
Oh, and just because you still play, doesn’t mean you can’t give it a go. It’s a good way to discover a respect for umpires you thought you never had!
Thanks in anticipation!
